Copenhagen in Pastels

I've just returned from a few days in Copenhagen which is very sad as I wish I hadn't had to leave. It's the beautiful capital of Denmark and is host to countless cafes, restaurants, design shops and art galleries (all of my favourite things!). The weather was flawless and the sky was clear and blue everyday, which was nice as last time I was there it was October, which, in contrast was much colder.
As every tourist much do on a trip to Copenhagen I visited Nyhavn which is a 17th century waterfront lined with colourful houses- it's like walking through a postcard. The pastel coloured houses caught my eye because they are less stereotypical than the usual reds and ochres (which are also stunning).

Unfortunately, one thing that I didn't manage to take any photographs of was Meyers Bageri, as I totally forgot to! Meyers Bageri is a bakery run by the co-owner of Noma, Claus Meyer. It is small but light and airy inside and the smell of warm, fresh bread mixes with cinnamon buns as you step through the door. All of the ingredients used are organic and the grain used is grown in the Nordic region so you can be sure that whatever you're tasting is a true, Danish creation. It is located not far from Nyhavn on Store Kongensgade but the relaxed atmosphere is far from the busy bustle of the waterfront, especially on a warm day. There are tables outside and one inside if you're wanting to totally escape the outside world. I will definitely be visiting this bakery again as the cinnamon buns were the best I had ever tasted and were beautifully fresh, also the dark rye bread is delicious and I bought a loaf to bring home with me.
